HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) — As water continues to go down across the Tri-State, more resources are opening up to help people dealing with flood damage.
In Henderson, an organization called “4 Good Community” teamed up with the Henderson County Emergency Management Agency and the city police department to help with clean-up efforts.
“We are an extension of all the first responders, and we are here to serve and here to help the people of Henderson,” says Kyle Duckworth.
Duckworth is the non-profit’s director of development and says the non-profit hit the ground running. It is serving as a hub for donations and has helped over 50 people. Duckworth says he expects the number to increase as residents return home to assess the damage.
“We have a whole arsenal of items for families that come in,” says Duckworth.
To help with recovery, the non-profit is putting together “disaster carts. Each one is filled to the brim with a variety of items, including toiletries, cleaning supplies, water, and food.
Duckworth says it will be a long road to recovery. He says many people who are coming in to get supplies have lost everything.
“Any little bit helps, even if it is just a smile,” Duckworth says.
Anyone wishing to donate or volunteer is encouraged to contact Henderson County Emergency Management at (270) – 831-1235.
