Free Resources for Kids. A New Way to Teach Generosity.
Kids 4 Good is a free youth program from 4 Good Community that gives children ages 3–17 access to clothing, toys, household goods and other resources in a dignified shopping environment while teaching them how generosity can positively impact someone else.
Unlike a traditional giveaway, Kids 4 Good invites children to actively participate. Kids can choose items that meet their own needs while also selecting something to give to another person. That simple experience turns receiving into an opportunity to build empathy, confidence and generosity.
More Than Free Resources: A Youth Generosity Program
Kids 4 Good was created to address two needs at the same time: helping children access useful resources and giving young people an opportunity to experience generosity firsthand.
Children are able to shop in a welcoming, dignified environment rather than simply receiving a preselected bag of goods. The experience gives them choice, independence and ownership. At the same time, children are encouraged to look beyond their own needs by identifying someone else who could benefit from an item.
That combination is what makes Kids 4 Good different from a traditional nonprofit giveaway or free store.
The program helps children practice empathy, decision-making, generosity and social awareness in a real-world environment. Parents surveyed by 4 Good Community have reported positive changes in confidence, joy, pride and the way their children think about helping others.
